What’s new?

This session will provide an overview of the differences between the present and new Stage 6 syllabus, highlighting

  • differences in emphasis which will affect teaching and programming

the role of literacy and examine the new pattern of modules and electives across the 2 unit and extension courses.

11.00am – 12.30pm

Rigour and continuity.

This session will explain how key concepts in the syllabus have been developed from Stage 5 into Stage 6 and how these will impact on teaching and student success in Stage 6.

1:15 – 2:30

Using texts in Year 11 to engage and provoke.

A range of suitable types of texts will be offered as exemplars of how to address particular areas of each course.

2:30 – 3:00

Implications for assessment.

This session will consider how the new mandated requirements of types and number of tasks can be realised in the classroom.
